Welcome to The Hurricane

Welcome to the launch of the new Hurricane Headwear website and my first blog post! My name is Zach Jayne, Head of Wear at Hurricane. I am so excited to share with you MORE of what Hurricane has and will be offering as we grow! The amount of ideas and inspiration whirling around in my head is ready to explode, but I'm calm. I wanted to start by telling you why I created this blog, what you will be seeing more of in my future posts, and my overall experience of starting your own business at 14 years old.

Why I started my blog

Since I started my business, some of my friends have asked “Why don’t you blog?!” and up until a few months ago I simply didn't have the time. I rarely click on blog links and I never understood WHY people wrote blogs, I just thought it was a waste of time to even look at. I WAS WRONG. After a little research and speaking with my parents, I have become much more interested in sharing my journey with inspiration to start a blog. I have finally realized all of the benefits that blogging can bring. I enjoy my Freshman Lit class, so I'm starting to digest a lot of different writing styles. So, this is the perfect way for me to share my adventures and gain more writing experience in the process.

What you will be seeing more of in my posts

Fashionable headwear will obviously be the main topic of my blog, but get ready because you will be seeing much more of the face behind Hurricane (me) with my trusty steed (Dad) helping me along the way. Expect to see a mixture of lifestyle including my favorite fashion designs, products, as well as the nuances of starting a small business (as I am a young entrepreneur). Creative writing is an ever-changing process. I wouldn't consider writing to be a strong skillset of mine and I will tell you, call me a blogger in training. I figure it will be a lot of trial and error, so please bear with me on any grammar/spelling mistakes and please feel free to always share your advice and communicate with me along the way!

What else to expect

I'm a year round Nord and a part-time Grom. Training and racing as a nordic athlete is a passion of mine, so expect to see a lot of training, nutrition and other topics as they relate to life on skis. Surfing is fun and a serious hobby of mine. I'm a river surfer in Bend OR (which is great, as I live 3 hrs from an ocean). Although I may not be a Gerry Lopez, Conway Bixby or even a Grubby Clark, I do consider them friends, mentors and inspiration for fulfilling my dreams. Moving forward, I will post on a number of my athletic adventures and, more importantly, some of my real-life, real-time heroes.

This is just the beginning, so I hope you enjoy the ride.
